What is Insights?

Insights is a web app for accountants who manage many QuickBooks Online clients: see every client in one view, spot who needs attention this month, and analyze clients combined or one at a time.

Does Insights change anything in QuickBooks?

No. Intuit offers a single Accounting scope that covers reading and writing, so Insights requests it, but it uses it only to read. It never creates, edits or deletes anything in QuickBooks.

What data does Insights read?

Company information, reporting preferences, and Profit and Loss and Balance Sheet reports by month for the last 24 months.

Can I try it before connecting a client?

Yes. The public demo runs on sample data for a fictional firm, so you can explore the views before connecting any QuickBooks Online company.

What are the current limits?

Reports are on an accrual basis, and the combined view is a simple total of the selected companies with no intercompany eliminations or currency conversion. Non-USD clients are labeled and left out of totals.
